run form video – x

test2

This video (slowed to .5 second per frame) shows client X running at about 7:00 pace which is his current 10K race pace. On the positive side, his knees are bent during the landing phase and his rear leg is about parallel with the ground showing that he is bringing his heels up well. Also his arm movement is pretty good. I like that his hands are coming back to about mid body. He could drop his hands a bit to release some tension in his shoulder area.

On the not so positive side, his heel strike foot position is quite noticable because he is reaching out with his forward foot a bit too much. By letting the foot drop quicker and keeping his toes down he will have a much smoother mid foot landing and might help with his injury issues.

His foot lift off should be faster with less toe off. The strong toe off is causing his body to bob vertically too much which is wasting energy. That energy should be put into moving forward, not up and down.

The back leg is completely extending and I would like to see a bit more of a bent knee there. His cadence measures out on this film at 172 strikes per minute. I would like to see him try to work it up to 180 to reduce the contact time, reduce the over striding and make his running form smoother and more efficient.
